Farukhnagar, The Happy Cow

FarukhNagar2.jpg

Farukhnagar, the cow, derived her name from the place where she was discovered - a small locality outside the Gurgaon municipal limits on the way to Jhajjar district.

In the midst of 2017, our founder, Saptarshi visited the Farukhnagar market for local purchases, he noticed a group of calves gathered in one area. Upon returning to the same market the next day, he realized that all the calves, except one, had disappeared. The calf was sitting alone in the same spot. On closer examination, Saptarshi discovered that the calf had suffered an injured front limb, which had become swollen. Despite the animal's obvious need for help, no one was willing to assist or show any concern. Even offers to pay for transportation to the shelter were met with indifference.

Determined to save the injured calf, Saptarshi took it upon himself to transport the animal in his private vehicle to the shelter. Once at the Safe House shelter, the calf's broken leg was carefully plastered. With regular care and treatment, the injury gradually healed, allowing the calf to stand and walk again after 15 days. Farukhnagar, now a fully grown bull, has been a satisfied resident of our shelter for over 5 years.
