Karamvir, We Miss You!

Karamvir.jpg

Karamvir, a resilient dog, was brought to the shelter in 2017 from the People for Animals (PFA) shelter, where he had been residing since 2016. He had suffered a severe accident after being hit by a vehicle, which propelled him into a nearby pond upon impact. Karamvir was rescued in a critical condition, with a damaged spinal cord and paralysis in his lower back.

During our assessment, we conducted tests to check for sensation by inserting a needle in his lower back. Sadly, it was evident that Karamvir had lost all feeling in that area. A veterinarian confirmed this diagnosis. Despite his challenging condition, Karamvir has been residing happily at our shelter for the past 5 years. He tends to keep to himself and is not very social. He seldom barks, and his walking is always accompanied by a unique sound.

Interestingly, Karamvir earned his name through an incident during our intervention. Our shelter worker named Karamvir, who was handling him, neglected the standard precaution of fully closing the dog's mouth to prevent biting. Consequently, Karamvir ended up biting the worker, and his name was given in reference to this event. Barring this event, Karamvir minds his own business!

Update: As we publish this, Karamvir has passed away. We are satisfied that he had a long life with us and fought well, against all odds that were playing against him.
